Robot Floor Vacuums

by Robot Vacuum Reviews Staff on July 3, 2011

Robot Floor Vacuums

Consider the days of spending an entire weekend cleaning house to be a thing of the past with the new robot floor vacuums. These vacuums use amazing robotic technology that was previously limited to more high-end inventions such as bionic limbs, intelligence and security systems, medical and scientific equipment, military surveillance, and espionage. The idea of being able to use this kind of technology in everyday cleaning gear for the home is thrilling.

Of course, over and above the technological excitement, the robot floor vacuums should perform. It should be able to remove the angst from cleaning the house but do it in a way that satisfies your cleaning standards. It’s like having someone come in to clean for you. They either do a good job or simply go cosmetic. “Cosmetic cleaning” is like when a person sweeps dirt under the bed and tables; shoves everything out of sight so the room looks clean; and tries to look tired after doing all these superficial tricks. Robot cleaners will never do cosmetic clean-ups.

The robot floor vacuums are smart machines. They can clean corners, under furniture, and come very close to the room’s walls without damaging them because of their special sensors. You can even use the robot floor vacuums on second floors because they are equipped with a virtual wall that will stop them short of falling down the stairs.

You will, however, need to do the initial programming of the vacuum and check on them once in a while. This is because the robot floor vacuums are not just turned on and let loose to clean. Usually, they clean an area you specify and then dock to wait for your next command. On the other hand, you may find that the newer models can be pre-programmed to be completely automatic so you don’t have to be present at all.

Your main option when looking for one of these wonderful vacuums will be to choose between fully automatic or semi-automatic. Look for one that is easy to maintain and clean and that can work on multiple surfaces.

If you’re still wavering about inviting this new robot into your home, just think about the additional time you will gain from not having to clean your floors anymore. If the cost is stopping you, factor in the cost of your time spent with your children or doing more important things for yourself. The good news is that as long as you select a dependable and reputable brand with good reviews, the robot floor vacuums won’t break down on you before you get your money’s worth, and then some! There are excellent quality machines now at your disposable. If the technology is good enough for the military , doctors, and the government, it should be good enough to do your floors, as well.

Dyson Robot Vacuum

by Robot Vacuum Reviews Staff on July 1, 2011

Dyson Robot Vacuum

The Dyson Robot Vacuum is finally here. When James Dyson first imagined his life, it was not as a maker of cleaning equipment. He studied architecture and then began to create marine craft. From here, he shifted to the garden wheelbarrow before honing his sights on the regular vacuum cleaner.

The first Dyson vacuum cleaner used cyclone technology to prevent suction power from being diminished. It revolutionized the world of vacuum cleaners, and everyone soon followed. Fortunately for us, James Dyson didn’t stop there. His dream was to create bigger and better machines differently in a way that would again create new avenues for cleaning equipment. His latest success is found in the Dyson Robot Vacuum.

It was a work in progress beginning in the mid 1990s and finally coming out 7 years later in 2001. It was the first non-programmed robotic vacuum cleaner with artificial intelligence. With 70 sensors and color-coded “mood buttons,” this Dyson Robot Vacuum opened new doors. It was to be the most expensive vacuum cleaner rumored at $6,000 which made Dyson go back to the drawing board to create a more affordable machine.

Two years ago, he was able to unveil the smallest Dyson Robot Vacuum cleaner, the DC26. It has the patented Dyson Root Cyclone technology which uses centrifugal force to clean floors and the V-Ball technology to keep its suction power at optimum level while moving effortlessly across a room.

The genius in this Dyson Robot Vacuum is found in the persistence of its creator and the more than 300 scientists and engineers who helped him build it. This invention was awarded the 2009 Japanese Good Design Gold Award. It is light yet virtually unbreakable having been dropped on a floor and banged against walls repeatedly and still able to function properly. Compared to astounding earlier price, this Dyson Robot Vacuum is reportedly being sold in Japan and soon around the world for only $400. That’s a fulfilled dream for James Dyson with his robotic technology now performing at its best and available to the general public.

Granted that the price is still steep, this machine will certainly spoil you. Cleaning house is really something you can’t skip often. The dirt will be there waiting and accumulating. Doing house cleaning for years leaves you exhausted and cranky. After all these years, don’t you think you deserve the Dyson Robot Vacuum? It is much cheaper than maid service, and since Dyson is known for its quality products, this would be a one-time investment for a lifetime of less work.

Lightweight Vacuum Cleaners

by Robot Vacuum Reviews Staff on June 30, 2011

Lightweight Vacuum Cleaners

The days of clunky, heavy vacuum cleaners are over with the introduction of the modern-day lightweight vacuum cleaners. Anyone who has had to use the old-style vacuum cleaner can heave a huge sigh of relief. The next reaction would be more down-to-earth with concerns about how reliable and effective these lightweight vacuums are.

A company can slip a tiny microchip into a hand-held gadget to allow it to perform multiple tasks at the same time. The chance of lightweight vacuum cleaners being able to carry the same, if not more, features is not inconceivable. Just think about the original mobile phones that came out in the early 1990s. Were they not something like walkie talkies – bulky and heavy?

To be more specific though, aside from the weight, lightweight vacuum cleaners have a lot to offer. Just look at what some of the newer models have.

Most of these vacuums have robotic functions. It is relatively new technology for cleaning equipment, but robotics have been a part of our lives for many years already. Some simple robotic technology gadgets are remote control cars, robotic arms, clocks, and many of the medical and surgical equipment that doctors and hospitals use.

There are many advantages to having the option to purchase robotic lightweight vacuum cleaners such:

• Shorter working and cleaning periods
• Better time management
• Less stress since you don’t have to do all the cleaning
• More time for more important things like spending time with family and friends

These robotic vacuum cleaners have everything you need to clean: brushes, rechargeable batteries, and remote control. If you’re worried that a robot can suddenly turn into a monster that rips your home apart, don’t be. They are programmed to clean a pre-programmed area and once that particular area is done, it returns to its docking station. In brief, it is one dimensional. It will not deviate to another room or roll out the front door to disappear or create havoc on the world. These are well-programmed and extremely efficient machines that will only move when you command them to.

As far as cleaning capabilities, the lightweight vacuum cleaners are designed to be slim so that they can easily slip under beds, sofas, and chairs to vacuum properly. They are also able to maneuver around corners and furniture without scratching or bumping into them.

Not all lightweight vacuum cleaners are robotic. Some are just lighter than the “old school” vacuums. These are still very effective depending on the brand and model you select. Some are even capable of cleaning indoor air with hypoallergenic technology. A simple way of explaining this method is that it sucks in tiny dirt particles, trapping them in a filter before releasing clean air.

Whether you opt for a robotic lightweight vacuum cleaner or something that’s just not as heavy is a matter of personal choice and budget. Regardless, it is advised to eventually replace your heavy vacuum cleaner unless you need it for commercial purposes. The heavy vacuum cleaners will soon be obsolete and difficult to repair, not to mention them having fewer parts available. Finally, the lightweight vacuum cleaners will not cause unnecessary stress on the body, and that counts for a lot when you have an entire house or apartment to clean regularly.

Advantages of Robot Vacuum Cleaners

by Robot Vacuum Reviews Staff on June 28, 2011

Robot Vacuum Cleaners
If you’re looking to solve your dust problems without much effort, robot vacuum cleaners are perfect for you. With the emergence of robotic technologies that have now been made available to the masses, this is one application of the technology that has been embraced and loved due to its overwhelming advantages and benefits. Armed with an intelligent program that can be modified according to your needs and according to the atmosphere it will be put in, manual labor in vacuuming can be a thing of the past. All you have to do is configure its settings according to your preference and off it goes.
The vacuum cleaning robot is made in such a way that it is very easy to modify to suit your specific needs. It is also available in a rich variety of colors and different specializations (updated, silent, multifunctional etc.)

Here are the basic advantages and features that the average robot vacuum cleaner possesses:

Cleaning Intensity
Robot vacuum cleaners are geared to be customizable in terms of cleaning intensity. Each vacuum cleaning robot will have at least two choices of intensity: high and low. Setting it on low will vacuum dust and many loose particles such as dirt or pieces of food. The downside is that it might leave out particles which are more stuck on floors or furniture. This setting will, however, omit the least noise possible and finish more quickly. On the other hand, setting it on high will optimize it to vacuum every dust particle it passes but will slow the vacuum down considerably and omits more noise than the robot vacuum being set on low. There are low noise or “silent” products on the market that are specifically designed to address this issue.

Friendly To Those Who Are Allergic To Dust
A common problem of manual vacuuming is that the individual controlling the vacuum cleaner might be allergic dust. This makes the tedious task of vacuuming that much more miserable. However, the robot vacuum cleaners address this issue by removing the requirement that you be nearby. They are also great to minimize that amount of dust that builds in your home since you can program the vacuum to clean more frequently that your time might allow. You must simply turn it on and it will do its job.

No Supervision Needed
Unlike manual vacuuming where you must find the time and energy to operate the vacuum, the robot vacuum cleaners do not need such supervision. Additionally, where a person operating a vacuum might miss a few spots or not be able to reach under furniture, the robot vacuum cleaners have built in sensors that detect dust and dirt which helps it indicate where to clean. They are also generally small enough to get underneath furniture that a normal vacuum can not, simply by setting the program and letting it do its job!

Silent Mode
In the past, the most common complaint with a vacuum cleaning robot is its high noise level. The Silent Mode feature has been specially made in order to address the common issue. Given this upgrade, robot vacuum cleaners have a huge advantage compared to the standard vacuum cleaner.
As years go by more and more upgrades and add-ons will be created and implemented for the robot vacuum cleaners, continually striving to make them a household necessity. There are many great products out there and more coming in the market every day. If you are looking for an easy and efficient way to solve the dust and dirt problems in your house, you should definitely consider a vacuum cleaning robot. It will save you a lot time and energy which you can then use for activities that you enjoy!

Roomba by iRobot

by Robot Vacuum Reviews Staff on June 7, 2011

With over 2 million Roomba units sold, Roomba has become one of the best selling consumer robots in history. Introduced in 2002, the Roomba has one the hearts of consumers and won numerous awards such Popular Science’s Best of What’s New, Good Housekeeping’s Seal of Approval and Time Magazine’s Coolest Inventions. What other vacuum cleaner has fan websites and forums devoted to it?

iRobot currently has five Roomba models varying from $150-$330 and recently introduced the Scooba designed for floorwashing. The Roombas are compact little units that cruise the house in search of dirt and debris. Simply push a button and Roomba scours the room, vacuuming as it goes.

Using dozens of sensors and AWARE Robot Intelligence Systems, the Roomba is able to move around and cover the entire room. It comes equipped with a “virtual” or “invisible wall” which sends out a laser beam that the Roomba won’t cross so that you can limit the Roomba to a particular area at a time. The robot’s sensors will avoid stairs and bounce off of objects and change course. If it gets stuck, it maneuvers until it is free, reminiscent of the Mars Rovers.

Each Roomba has a rechargeable battery. Some models can even be set to return, on their own, to their base station when they need to be recharged. These models have an infrared sensor on their bumper that looks for the signal from the base unit. At the end of the cleaning cycle or if their battery is low, Roomba searches for this signal and returns to the base for recharging.

Roomba is flat and compact making it ideal for those hard to reach spaces such as under beds and other furniture as well as under cabinet baseboards. In addition, its dirt sensors sense dirtier areas and instruct the Roomba to concentrate on the dirtier sections that it detects.

Since robot technology is cutting edge, technical support is important. The iRobot team is easy to reach both through their website and through their toll free phone number. One of the neat things about the Roomba is its serial port. Just like any other computer, software can be loaded into the Roomba through this port for upgrades and troubleshooting.

As a testament to the cult-like following of Roomba, Roomba’s can even be customized with “skins”. Customers can upload custom photos, choose their favorite sports teams, cover them with flowers, happy faces and even pizza. Imagine your Roomba dressed up like a baseball with your favorite team’s logo emblazed across it

Not only will Roomba vacuum your home, he will become a trusty little friend that will make you smile. Can’t say that about any other vacuum cleaner on the market.

Robot Vacuum Cleaner

by Robot Vacuum Reviews Staff on June 7, 2011

Today’s vacuum cleaners have come a long way from the over sized, bulky contraptions that they used to be.  No longer does a person need to worry about straining his or her back when it’s time to vacuum.  Today’s vacuum cleaners are smaller, thinner, lightweight, and more.

In fact, the advances in technology have provided the world with robot vacuum cleaners that not only do the task of picking up the dirt for us, but also, do the job of navigating the room too.  Special path finding software enables these vacuum cleaners to get around on their own without the guidance of human hands, leaving us free to do other things.

Moreover, even the robot vacuums can manage to save time and reduce the amount of time that it takes to vacuum the entire home.  Most of the more advanced models are capable of navigating an entire home using three-dimensional maps that are stored in their software.  The homeowner simply needs to program the robot vacuum cleaner with the necessary information it needs to perform its task.

In fact, many of the more advanced robot vacuum cleaners are even adept at navigating the thresholds of doorways.  No longer do they go bumbling about like the earlier models, stopping at every obstacle in their path.  Instead, they rise above the challenge and continue on their mission to seek out dirt and clean the world up.

The better robot vacuum cleaners can also be programmed to perform their tasks at a particular time and day.  The owner simply programs the machine to begin and end at a specific time and day.  Since no one needs to be home for the robot vacuum cleaner to begin or stop, this adds to the convenience of owning one.

In fact, the time that you allow the robot vacuum cleaner to run can also be programmed so you can curtail the time that it takes to do its job.  Moreover, you can preset the specific tasks, or rooms to be cleaned, ahead of time.  The robot vacuum cleaner can do its job anytime of day or night.

What’s more, some models are equipped with a remote control device.  This allows you to control the vacuum through a computer with an Internet connection.  Plus, through the inclusion of a small camera on the robot vacuum cleaner, you can monitor the progress of your cleaner with your computer.

Even the less advanced models are capable of performing a good vacuuming job.  These robot vacuum cleaners navigate the rooms by following the contours of the walls, only stopping when they encounter an obstacle.  At this juncture, they typically redirect their route and pick up their task once again, efficiently picking up dirt and dust as they go.

Most of the models are lightweight and weigh less than six pounds, making them easy to transport form floor to floor.  The more features that a specific robot vacuum cleaner includes, the more expensive that it will be.  The range of robot vacuum cleaners is from the elaborate to the simple and the expensive to the inexpensive.  The specific model that you decide to purchase is up to you.

Consider your specific needs such as the size of your home, the number of rooms to be vacuumed, and the amount of free time that you have to monitor your machine.  If you are pressed for time, then an investment in one of the more advanced, programmable models is definitely the way to go.  However, if you only have a three-room apartment and you are there most of the time, a lower end model might suit your needs considerably well.

Robot Vacuum Cleaners – Tell Me More!

by Robot Vacuum Reviews Staff on June 6, 2011

Robot Vacuum Cleaners are hot commodities on the consumer market these days.  Anyone, who does not have one, should have at least one, and maybe even two.  Robot Vacuum Cleaners, designed to help consumers free up valuable time, fit right into a world that has two working parents or a single parent doing the work of two parents.

Affordable, dependable, and capable are only some of the words that can be used to describe these handy little home robots.  They have excellent vacuuming skills, low upkeep, and a low profile.  They are relatively small, lightweight, and attractive.

The benefits of owning a robot vacuum cleaner include fewer household chores to do, more free time to spend with family and friends, and an interesting topic for conversation.

Just imagine starting a conversation with, “Guess what my robot did today?”

After all, no job is too daunting or messy for the robots.  They travel throughout the house on a mission of cleanliness.  Pet fur, crumbs from the kitchen table, ordinary dust and dirt, and all of the other little bits of debris that wind up on homeowners’ floors are sucked up into the inner confines of the robot cleaner.

Unfortunately, similar to humans, the robot vacuum cleaner is not perfect.  A bit of fuzz may be left here and there where the robot cannot reach because it doesn’t have the dexterity.  Therefore, occasionally, a family member will need to follow up on the robot and complete the task.  Moreover, homeowners and the vacuuming job will fare better if before turning on a robot vacuum, they neaten up the room a bit.

The costs of housecleaning robots are comparable to the cost of a traditional vacuum cleaner, roughly between two hundred and four hundred dollars, depending on the manufacturer and model.  This makes robot vacuum cleaners not only practical but also affordable.

Traditional vacuum cleaners use lots of electricity so the robot vacuums have been designed to work well on less electricity.  This breakthrough in design makes it possible to produce a robot vacuum that can work with rechargeable batteries.  In fact, the robot will automatically set up to recharge its battery when necessary.  Moreover, the built in rechargeable batteries eliminate the annoyance of extension cords turning a home into an obstacle course.

Designed to reside in the home, work in the home, and be affordable to the homeowner, robot vacuum cleaners quickly become integral parts of the household’s routine.  They serve a useful purpose that quickly makes them indispensable.

Homes will never be the same again and neither will the household chores.  Who is going to argue when told to simply turn on the robot vacuum?  Although the home robot vacuum cleaner may not change the world, it quite possibly will change everyday life, as we know it.
